Debt Advice Centre
The Community Centre for Debt Advice in Staplehurst was set up in 2009 as a joint project between the village churches. The team of advisors are all volunteers who have undergone accredited training and offer free, face to face advice for those experiencing financial difficulties. Where necessary we will negotiate with creditors on your behalf and sympathetically lift some of the strain of the situation. We make use of the office in the Staplehurst Free Church building and can also see clients there. Appointments need to be made – usually on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings or at other times by special arrangement. The Friends is a charitable organisation founded in 2007 and registered with the Charity Commission. The aims and objectives of the Friends are to relieve sickness and preserve the health of persons permanently or temporarily resident in Staplehurst, Frittenden and the surrounding area:- (1) by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment not necessarily provided by the statutory authorities, (2) by advancing the education of the public in health and related matters by the provision of lectures for, and the publication of newsletters devoted to health, and (3) by such other charitable methods as the Charity acting through its committee may determine. We have a Rainbow Unit for girls aged 5 to7 years, 3 Brownie Units for girls aged 7 to 10 years, 2 Guide Units and a Ranger Unit. All units meet in the Kathie Lamb Centre in the Headcorn Road. Involve Older People formally known as Brighter Futures offers activities for the over 65s in the rural areas of Maidstone. We currently run shopping trips from Coxheath and Lenham but could expand this to Staplehurst if there was a demand. We currently offer day trips to local garden centres, places of interest and the theatre. We also run a befriending service, either by telephone or in person. Lions Club
Staplehurst is covered by Paddock Wood and District Lions, whose area includes a wide area of the Weald of Kent. We serve the local community as well as supporting National and International Charities. Our membership of both men and women, regularly give their time to help others, raise funds, and organise events. McCabe Day Centre Thursday/Sunday Lunch Club for Over 50's
McCabe Thursday/Sunday Lunch Club held at McCabe Centre, McCabe Close, Bell Lane Staplehurst, TN12 0BW meet on Thursdays & Sundays for lunch between approximately 11.45 and 1.45. Lunch is currently £3.00 on a Thursday and £3.50 on a Sunday and optional local transport is £1.50, there is a raffle each week and Summer and Christmas outings. Minisaints
Minisaints is a parent/carer and baby/preschool group which meets every Thursday afternoon at the Parish Rooms, opposite Church Green (we have a wooden lollipop on a pole outside the building on the Thursday afternoons we are there) from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. We have table top activities and free play for the children with ride-ons and craft activities, a story and a song! We have baby facilities so your child is never too young to join us and give you and your child a chance to meet and make new friends. Meets at Sobell Lodge, High Street (at the rear of Staplehurst Village Centre) every Friday at 7.00pm (please aim to arrive by 6.50pm if you wish to play a game) Table money is £1.50 per guest per evening. Visitors coming on their own are always guaranteed a game - there is no need to find a partner. We are a very friendly club with a mixed standard of play. We play duplicate bridge. This is the only annual village event, which brings the majority of village organisations and villagers together for a day. The aims of the Carnival and Fete are twofold - to raise funds for deserving village causes and to provide an afternoon of entertainment for all who wish to attend. The Village Golf & Sports Club (formerly Diagrit Golf Club)
