Staplehurst Carnival and Fete Committee (SCaF)
Mission Statement
SCaF's Main Aims
1. To continue traditional Staplehurst village events and expand community activities
2. Raising charitable funds whilst providing entertainment, education and fun for residents
3. To give other charitable organisations a low cost arena in which to raise funds
SCaF's Fund Raising
The events run by SCaF to raise funds are;
The Summer Fete at Surrenden Field
The Christmas Fair at The Village Centre
However, additional challenges will always be considered.
SCaF's holding of the above events on an annual basis allows partnering organisations, both commercial and charitable, to raise funds directly from the community on a regular basis whilst contributing to SCaF's own charitable fund.
SCaF's Expenditure
The main expenditure of funds raised by SCaF are;
1. Funds for future events infrastructure, organisation and advertising.
2. The provision of money to local organisations and residents from whom written claims need to be received and presented in person at SCaF's AGM in September. The date and venue for the meeting can be found in the August issue of the All-Saints Parish Magazine or telephone the webpage contact number. Consideration of such claims will be completed and claimants informed of any funding allocation by 30th October.
3. Claims not received at the AGM but felt to be of merit by a committee member may be presented for discussion in committee. Then, if requested by the committee, the claimant will present their claim at a meeting for the committee's consideration.
4. The previous year's acoounts will be available to all those attending the AGM.
SCaF's Management
The Association of SCaF Friends are volunteers drawn from but not limited to Staplehurst residents normally over eighteen years of age who are willing to help SCaF meet its aims.
The SCaF committee is limited to eight people drawn from SCaF Friends, plus a Parish Council representative. Nominations for management committee positions must be lodged by Association Members one week prior to the AGM. The new year's committe is then formed based on the Association's votes at the AGM and a Chairman selected at the committees first meeting. However, when thought necessary, additional members may be co-opted to the committee.
Emails are mainly used for communications between meetings, with management committee meetings normally occuring fortnightly on Thursday evenings in Staplehurst.
Should you consider helping with SCaF's aims or wish further information please contact Jenny Wilden on 01580 892764 or Elaine Downton on 01580 893586 or send an email to
graham.sivyer@hotmail.com.
Thank you.
We are always very grateful of offers of help prior to and at the event, your input only being as large as you wish. To contact the group please either telephone Jenny Wilden on 01580 892764 or Elaine Downton on 01580 893586 or send an email to graham.sivyer@hotmail.com. If you would like a stall at the fete for a small charge or indeed if you have any other query these contacts will help. Please remember all proceeds go to local charities and good causes. In recent years these include donations to The Kathy Lamb Guide Centre, Chapel Lane Playgroup, Kent Air Ambulance, Skate Board Park Project, Mote Lodge, the Guide Group, the Scout Group and United Churches. Additionally, three individuals have benefited from a donation, two towards outward bound courses and one for a boat challenge. In March 2010 the group made a donation towards the Staplehurst Airfield Memorial Project.
